Just a quick update!
Today was Daven's last basketball game and he was so good. He even made some points and he is very proud.Tonight Mike is going to meet up with a group of guys from Germany to play Poker and I invited a friend of mine over to catch up! We are all so busy and it's just too bad that even though we live so close for a short time we don't see each other more often. But when we do it's even better!!!
It is so amazing to me how many people from Hohenfels I have run into here at Ft Leavenworth! The other night I was at a Southern living show and there were 7 of us. I guess the army is really a small family and that is nice to know! (Most of the time :) )
Now we have to run out and get the boys some haircuts. Like Mike always says :"They look like Hippies!"

Not snow again!!!
When we woke up today it started snowing AGAIN!! This is so depressing. We finally had some days (chilly days-but sunny) to go outside and play and the kids loved it. Even Daven complained about more snow!
I'm so done with this!
So all we could do in the morning was playing play dough,hide and seek,...! We need to get outside!!!!
Daven has his last basketball game tomorrow but at least we have a reason to get out of the house!

Yeah!
What 2 weeks we had. It seems like everybody on this post was sick and of course it hit me the worst in my family. I was sick all weekend with tonsillitis (I had no idea that grownups can get this)! Really pain full!
I still held my jewelry show on Friday though - the lady really wanted it -and what a blessing! I got my first "down line". That means a girl signed up under me and I get to train her and teach her. How awesome is that?! And... I booked my first show for Ft Stewart. I guess I was meant to be there :) .
Things are going really well and I couldn't be any happier. The kids are safe and sound, Mike is about to finish his school here and I'm just going with the flow! We are all so excited to get to our new house and of course we are picking out colors for the rooms,looking at a new swing set,...! The kids are a big help,and they do have their own ideas!!!

Even though I'm sick as can be with the flu (I think) Toady is an awesome day:)
Everybody who is in the army knows what I'm talking about and what this means- We got our orders today!!!!!!!!!!!
Alright,I know how things can go but this is getting us one step closer to our new home.

Today we had a really nice day. Daven had a basketball game in the morning. It's so much fun to watch those guys getting super excited about their game. It is more and more fun to go and watch him! This is really the first year that I don't want to stay home with the little ones because I feel like I could miss something. I'm so impresses. Daven is playing great defense and took some great shots!!!!!
In the afternoon we had some new friends coming over to talk about Richmond Hill. They just found out that they are going there as well and it's so nice to know that you'll know somebody you like at your new home! I can't wait to get to know them better.
I just got home from my neighbours house and I'm exhausted after a long day!
The kids are in bed ,Mike is doing some work on the computer ( as always-he is pretty busy lately) and I'm going to bed now!

After getting stuck in Georgia for 5 hours Mike made it back home safe and sound! His trip was a great success!!! We just signed the contract for our house and I'm so excited! This is the one I have been telling you all about and even after looking at about 25 homes we decided that this is the one!! The house has a little over 2000 sqft has 4 bdr and a fenced in yard (YEAH)! Mike is excited about our half bath,wich makes it a lot easier when people come over! :)The school is in walking distance and even Timmy's new school is within a mile.
Well, even if anything changes it would probably only for a deployment I'm still going to move!!!

Mike is in Georgia!!!
Today is the day. Mike took of really early this morning to fly to Georgia where he is going to look at some houses! I would love to be with him but it was the easiest to do it like this so I'm just waiting on the phone to get a call.As many of you know this is a really stressfull time. We know where we are going and now the planing begins!
Mike stopped at the Montessorie school first,and Yes-Timmy got in!!! :) I'm so happy! This is what I wanted for him all along and I got it! I guess it paid off starting this early!
He will be able to go to school from 8.00-14.30 every day and the best part is that it only costs $64 a month. This is to good to be true.
Like I said,I'm waiting and waiting. All I know is that Mike loves Richmond Hill and he liked the houses he looked at so far. I'm sure we'll spend quite a while on the phone tonight and tomorrow he'll look some more.
I will keep you posted and please keep us in your prayers. We are still dealing with the army !!!!!!

What we do when Mike is in School
Last night Mike had school and the kids decided that they are a band now. We had a blast!!!! These moments are the moments I think every mom lives for. I love my kids so much. They make me laugh so hard!!!!!

Interesting
Sitting here checking blogs and just reading and remembering it is really interesting,how lives change. I'm so excited to move soon even though things are back to normal here in infantry barracks!The boys have a lot of friends,we have a quite a few new really nice neighbours and a lot more privacy!!!
We only have about 12 more weeks to go and I'm dreaming of having a fence,a nice bathroom and meeting new friends! Since I'm an army wife I have met only a few friends that mean a lot to me -they know who they are - but I also had to learn a lot. Not without some tears here and there.
This is going to be our new challenge and I'm more than excited!!!!
I just have to send a few more prayers that nothing is going to change and we'll be on our way :)

Well,since I just talked to my friend Melanie on the phone and seeing her new blog - I decided to take this on. Mike has been trying to keep up with this and I'm sure he will still be posting but he just doesn't have the time! (Wonder why?!)

Cold Kansas Days...and hot news!
A quick update on what's new here in cold Kansas. The biggest news is we are (99% certain) going to Fort Stewart Georgia this summer! We will be right outside of Savannah. Mike found out he was requested by the Commanding General. A few days later, branch sent out the list with Mike on the Fort Stewart slot. The approved list came out a few days ago, and its still Fort Stewart! The army being the army, there is always a chance for a change, but as of now, we are planning on no more snow in the winters for a few years! We've been working with a realtor and have a few nice houses in mind. Our criteria is pretty simple: have a yard and be less than 100 years old! Anything outside of that is pure bonus material.
Julia had a big Premier Designs Convention (or rally in their lingo) a few weeks ago up in Des Moines, Iowa. Her and a few other ladies braved negative temperatures, had a great weekend and got the newest line of jewelry coming out. Since then, Julia has a number of shows booked and continues to enjoy her work.
Daven is doing great in school. We've taken some time off from Cub Scouts so he can go to basketball practice. He's doing great and had a good first game this past Saturday. He's excited to move to Georgia and wants to fly down with Daddy to look at houses. He's also become a big Giants fan! Grandpa sent out Giants shirts for both boys for the Super Bowl. We are looking forward to the big game and will be at a Super Bowl party with Mike's old SAMS group.
Timmy continues to get bigger and enjoys his kindergarten class. He too is looking forward to the move but was concerned that in his new school he would have to "sit down all day and do work like Daven's school". Once we reassured him this was not the case, he felt much better. Tim may start t-ball this spring since he is a baseball fan...and a Yankee fan, thank goodness!
Katie continues to be our child with the angel's heart and the devil's hand. If there is trouble to be found, you can bet Katie is there. She's cute as a button, loves her brothers and is always a cuddle bear. That being said, this girl has ideas the boys never had! I'm sure pictures will follow!
Mike is busy with SAMS but enjoying it. He's taking two KSU classes at night to finish up his Security Studies Masters Degree. All six of the SAMS students working on their KSU degrees moved into one section after the Christmas break to get more personalized instruction by the Political Science PhD instructor of SAMS. Its been great readings, super discussions and he's looking forward to being the maneuver planner for 3d Infantry Division. Its been too long away from soldiers for Mike. His new unit will have both heavy (tanks) and light (infantry like his 82d Airborne Days) units so the choices are wide open for future jobs. Also, he is still teaching history for AMU and really enjoys working with the students (and the extra income!). He'll start teaching both a WWI and WWII class in the next few months...something he is really looking forward to.
That's the latest from sub-zero Kansas! We are so excited to know where we are going and can't wait to buy our first house. The weather will be warm but so will the southern hospitality and charm. Savannah is about 15 minutes from where we are looking to live so start planning a trip "down east"!!

Good Job Army!!!
Even though they lost yesterday, Army played a great game. I love it when I can watch the Army games on television, especially the home games. The foliage at West Point looked simply beautiful in the background around Lusk Reservoir. I've never seen a more gorgeous fall display of colors than up around West Point in all the places we've lived so far.
The Cadets played a tough game, scored a season high, and covered the spread (15 points). Hats off to them. The kids love putting on their West Point gear and listening to Daddy go nuts when Army scores, and when they blow the big plays! Can't wait for Army/Navy!!!

Fall...finally
Fall is struggling to take hold here at Fort Leavenworth. We'll get a few cool days then warm up again. Possible mid-70s by the end of the weekend...great weather for September but not mid-November!!! It looks like next week, though, the cold weather may be here to stay!
Everyone is doing great. Each weekend seems to be filled with something. From Daven's cub scouts to Julia's shows to SAMS get togethers, time is flying by. We can't believe Thanksgiving is right around the corner. We've got friends coming over to eat, drink and hang out. The weekend after that is ARMY/NAVY!!! Truly the only football game I really care about! We'll have most of our SAMS group over for that one. Let's hope for a close game...hey, I'm an Army fan and a realist!
We're hoping to find out some news in the next couple weeks about our next assignment. Right now we are in the running for either Fort Lewis, Washington or Fort Stewart, Georgia...both are top on our list. Of course this is the Army and as always, subject to change. But Mike had some great interviews and is hoping to land one of those two jobs. No matter where we move we'll be happy! We'll have our family and almost guarenteed, a house that is LESS than 100 years old...and a fenced in yard for the kids and Chloe to play in.

Back up on the net!
Hello again everyone! Its been a busy couple of months here at Fort Leavenworth and our blog unfortunately fell to the bottom of the list! Mike started SAMS in the beginning of July and really loves it so far. Lots of readings every night and great discussions during the day. Mike being Mike, however, also decided to pursue an additional masters degree in Security Studies with Kansas State University AND is teaching undergrad history online with his Masters degree Alma Mater, American Military University. Needless to say, Mike has been pretty busy but now has reached an equilibrium with everything he signed up for!
Julia's jewelry business is going great. She has shows lined up from now to the end of the year. She continues to enjoy meeting new people and taking her jewelry show on the road all over Kansas!
Daven started 2d grade yesterday! So far he really likes his teacher and his class. He finished up his swimming lessons for the summer making into level 5!!! He's become a real fish in the water complete with doing flips off the diving board! Soccer is rapidly approaching and he just signed up for cub scouts...busy just like Dad!
Timmy also finished up swimming making it into level 3B. Not bad for a three year old! It is amazing to see how much he's improved just in a few weeks of lessons. He even jumped off the diving board during his last lesson...no fear! Tim kicked off his 2d year of pre-school and so far really likes his teacher.
Miss Katie just celebrated her 2d birthday last week and is getting bigger every day. She was pretty lost when both boys went to school after a full summer of sibling bonding...but has plenty of toys from her birthday to keep her busy!
Mom and Dad were out last week for Katie's birthday so we'll try and get some pics up on the blog. So far no word on where we will head to next but pretty much anywhere will be fine for the Sullivans!

It's been a while!
Well its almost been a month since our last post. Lots has happened since then. Mike finished up work and has been on leave since his birthday spending lots of time at home with the kids. We are outside constantly from sunup and past sun down.
On 9 June we flew out to New York to spend time with Grandma and Grandpa. They and their house survived intact!! Pictures are coming soon. We spent a day down in Manhattan, taking the ferry from New Jersey then having a great lunch at Carmines and making a stop at the M & M store! The next day we drove down to Sea Girt, New Jersey and spent time with Aunt Nancy and crew. We went to the Beach (cold water!) then to the joyous heated pool at Aunt Nancy's house!! Larry, Stacy, Larry Jr. and Lindsay came over to keep us company making the trip a great time! On Saturday we hit the Palisades Mall to do some shopping then spent time with Brendan and Jeanelle, our good friends from Germany and Katie's Godparents. Sunday was the first time in years that both Kevin and I were home for Father's Day and spent the day outside, playing with water guns. Monday took us up to West Point to visit the old Alma Mater and stock up on West Point stuff. The day ended with a trip to Woodbury Commons then some good old New York Pizza for dinner! We flew back on Tuesday and Julia did great on both flights!
Since then Mike's office had a farewell ceremony for him which the whole family attended. We've been spending alot of time with friends, staying up way to late every night and went to Michael's birthday party at the pool on post yesterday which was a lot of fun. Mike has one week left before the start of SAMS and he can't wait to get back into the military groove!
We'll try and get some pics up today or tomorrow. Hope everyone is well!!

Mike's 35th Birthday
Talk about getting old!! Well, its been a great birthday so far. I got to sleep in which was really nice and Katie didn't have that bad of a night as the medicine starts to work against her ear infection. After sleeping in, I got to open presents. Both Katie and Timmy were helping me. I got some really nice clothes from Eddie Bauer, a digital photo frame, the first season of one of my favorite shows, Scrubs, and I'm sitting outside right now writing on our blog with my Gateway laptop....wireless internet is awesome!!! All the kids and Julia had some really nice cards for me as well.
We had calls from Germany including Julia's family and friends of ours from Parsberg. The Sullivans called from New York and I've received some Happy Birthday e-mails as well. We went for lunch at the High Noon Saloon and for dinner....Subways!! Mom and Julia keep giving me a hard time but I've been in the states nearly two years and haven't had a subway's sandwich. I actually went to the subways in Baghdad Airport on my way back from Iraq in March...but still haven't gone to the one right outside the gate! So tonight its subways and birthday cake!
The army gives you a new perspective on birthdays. Every few years, your PT test scores get easier based on your age. When you have a birthday where you have to either do a few less push-ups, or your run time gets slower, it makes that birthday Army special. Not this year for Mike. Oh well, guess I"ll have to keep doing a few more push ups!
Thanks everyone for the congratulations and great gifts! Like Harrison Ford says in Indiana Jones: "Its not the years...its the mileage!". I figure I've got plenty of miles left so I feel pretty good for a 35 year old guy today!
